Now! Watch the film for free... Have you ever watched a film on late night TV and wondered what ever happened to a director, producer, actor or other film creator? Many old films have fallen into the Public Domain or that gray royalty-free area sometimes referred to as the "Orphan film." This means the creators don't get paid when their work is televised or sold on DVD. We love the public domain, but we feel
that good-faith
royalties should be generated for the creators of such classics as
Night of the Living Dead. You can support our efforts by making a donation of any amount via PayPal. About our controversial remix... The "Benefit for the Living Dead" release is an expanded, 2007 revision of our old Internet-demo called "Night of the Living Dead Survivor's Cut." The Survivor's Cut was a tribute to the surviving individuals that were involved with the creation of the original 1968 film. Archive.org supplied over 3,000 FREE low-rez downloads in May-June of 2005. Although
numerous reviews shed a positive light on the Survivor's Cut, the movie
was never released This misunderstood release did not manage to attach NOTLD associates like Director George Romero or Writer John Russo. Therefore, after a few months the Survivor's Cut was shelved. The Benefit Project This project is being organized to literally-pay-tribute to the people that are responsible for the creation of movies like NOTLD that have fallen into the public domain or are considered "orphan films." The Benefit Project is a media-distribution organization (in development) that has a benevolent agenda, rather than a commercial one. You may have heard about BMI,
the Harry Fox Agen Benefit for the Living Dead This is a fund-in-the making that is dedicated to the icons of filmmaking that you love. This landmark movie serves a higher purpose. The Benefit for the Living Dead will financially-feed the organization's fund, which will administer royalites and/or equity to the surviving filmmakers who elect to participate. It's
a good cause and good entertainment. We hope you
take a mo Public Domain Adaptions Here's how the Benefit Project works in relation to Public Domain and orphan films, in particular the Night of the Living Dead:
Participating
"survivor's" may elect to receive royalties and/or copyright-equity,
or to direct their dividends to a
charity. This will most likely be administered by an
organization like the Actors Fund or the Entertainment Industry
Foundation (EIF.)
A note to film purists Don't
worry, this doesn't mean that any of the
NOTLD "survivor's" have explicitly endorsed the Benefit Project or the
Survivor's Cut. Nor does it imply in any way that a "benefit" release
replaces, challenges or competes in any manner with the source material
-- like the original NOTLD. Trade information NLDFILM
is an entity that is responsible for the Night of the Living Dead
Survivor's Cut, which is the 2005 re-imagination of the George Romero
horror classic film. For acquisition in all territories, you may email Dean or if you are more comfortable dealing with our non-exclusive foreign sales agent, then please visit Cine Sales Inc. (Cine Sales is associated with Unearthed Films and Anthem Pictures.)
